IO7A Team contest station

Welcome into the homepage of the Multi-op contest station IO7A. This station is the result of the engagement and the will of three friends, IW7CPY Angelo, IZ7ECT Miky and IZ7KHR Frank.

The intention is to build a complete multi-operator contest station, but this will be made a little at a time.

The intention is to use two locations: the first is the station of Angelo IW7CPY in the hinterland of Bari, in the south-east of Italy, 400m of altitude, with a total open space on 360°. This setup provides a tower with a 3 elements STEPPIR with 40m and 6m kits and dipoles for 80-160m; 2 yaesu ft-950 and a kenwood ts-2000, next upgrade will be told!

The second location is the station of IZ7KHR, that is under construction and provides a tower with a 6 elements delta loop (2 for 10-15-20m) and a 2 elements moxon for 40m, a dipole for 80m and a 4 squared slopers system for the Top Band. The radio is a yaesu ft-950, there is also the possibility to have a second ft-950 by Angelo… The setup will be the best for a so2r operation and also for multi-op. There will be also full automatic band decoder and antenna selectors. Other futures will be told!

Now, for the first time, we have decided to partecipate to ARI DX INTERNATIONAL CONTEST from 2 to 3 may 2009.

ARI DX INTERNATIONAL CONTEST 2009

After our first contest as IO7A the first impression  is very good!

We have tested the quality of the Steppir, it have given us the possibility to work WITH ONLY 100W multipliers all over the world! For example NH7O (Hawaii) via long path at 04.00 utc circa in 20m. Japan, Taiwan, Argentina, Brasil, Uruguay, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and many others…

We have made a good number of QSO (circa 850), with a good score, compared to our expectations…the correct score will be upload soon.

We have had great problems on low bands and in the research of multipliers with the second station, because we had only the tower tuned due to some problems with other antennas. So we have made very few contacts on 80m and noyhing in 160m. This a problem to resolve in future!

We are a great group of friends, some with good experience in dx activity and contest, other novices, but all with the intection to grow together!!! With us there are also the best dxmen in the world!!! Giannico and Roberto great operators:
