The incredible David 6Y1V has done the Young Ham selection also this year!
This year he has chosen 3 guys to make the CQWW CW 2009 from 6Y1V SuperStation. After my trip in Jamaica I thought that CW was passed and of little interest for me. David, instead, surprises me with him keyer! He was superfast and the sounds of TI – TA were music to my ears.
Since my return at home I have tried the CW. At this moment I’m making many CW QSO, my keyer is my PC, I don’t deny it! But now I’m able to understand my callsign and standard reports…
So, after this, I’m not surprised by the choice of David! He wants to encourage the HamRadio among young!
I think that will be a great experience for these guys, certainly one of the best in them life. So a very good luck to Roger EA3ALZ, Alex OZ7AM, Alex RV9LM, you will learn many things by David, these will be a treasure for you!
GL IN CONTEST, 73 DE IZ7KHR/6Y7K
I will spend 2 weeks in holiday. I’m going to Cortina D’Ampezzo, a beautiful place on Dolomiti mountains, in the North-East of Italy.
My location will be at 1500m on the sea level. I’m bringing with me a YAESU FT-897 with some portable antennas. I have build a multiband fishing-pole antenna and a single-element delta loop for 6m and 2m. I will upload some photos of those installations.
In case of some portable activities I have included in the pack also a multiband mobile antenna with a magnetic base for a mobile installation.
There will be many good locations for portable operations, also for S.O.T.A. (Summit On The Air), but now I don’t have any idea about these opportunity. I will consider them evaluating wheather conditions and every others difficulties.
In every case I will prefer activity in 6m and, if the propagation will be good, also in 2m. In HF I will test digital and SSTV modes.

A great welcome to the Multi-op contest station IO7A. This station is the result of the engagement and the will of three friends, IW7CPY Angelo, IZ7ECT Miky and IZ7KHR Frank.
The intention is to build a complete multi-operator contest station, but this will be made a little at a time.
The intention is to use two locations: the first is the station of Angelo IW7CPY in the hinterland of Bari, in the south-east of Italy, 400m of altitude, with a total open space on 360°. This setup provides a tower with a 3 elements STEPPIR with 40m and 6m kits and dipoles for 80-160m; 2 yaesu ft-950 and a kenwood ts-2000, next upgrade will be told!
The second location is the station of IZ7KHR, that is under construction and provides a tower with a 6 elements delta loop (2 for 10-15-20m) and a 2 elements moxon for 40m, a dipole for 80m and a 4 squared slopers system for the Top Band. The radio is a yaesu ft-950, there is also the possibility to have a second ft-950 by Angelo… The setup will be the best for a so2r operation and also for multi-op. There will be also full automatic band decoder and antenna selectors. Other futures will be told!

Il caposquadra dei pompieri Marco Cavagna ci ha lasciato la pelle, nel tentativo di salvare quella degli altri. Era partito coi colleghi da Bergamo per L’Aquila all’alba. La sera era già al lavoro tra le rovine della città fantasma. Una fitta e si è accasciato. C’è da sperare che almeno l’ambulanza fosse in ordine. Perché, insieme con tanti eroi ricchi di coraggio e generosità come lui, i vigili del fuoco arrivati da tutto il Paese sono stati costretti a portare in Abruzzo anche vecchi camion scassati.
Bestioni appesantiti da venti anni di servizio o ancora di più. Che a volte, dopo un rantolo del motore, si sono fermati in autostrada e, come certi muli di una volta, non han voluto saperne di ripartire. Eccole qui, le due facce dello Stato sul fronte di quella che Guido Bertolaso ha chiamato «la tragedia del millennio». Due facce complementari, come tante volte accade. Da una parte l’Italia dei vetusti «Fiat Om 90», «AF Combi» o «APS Eurofire» in servizio dai tempi lontani in cui il centravanti della nazionale era Paolino Rossi, carrette di lamiera che dopo essere state lasciate «dieci anni nei capannoni » (parole di un comunicato ufficiale del sindacato di base Rdb-Cub) sono finite «fuori uso per problemi di ribaltamento e rotture ai supporti del serbatoio dell’acqua» e abbandonate lungo il percorso.
Questo articolo, apparso sul sito web del Corriere della Sera, mi ha colpito per l’amplia analisi di ciò che è successo e sta succedendo in Abruzzo a causa del forte terremoto scatenatosi nella notte tra Domenica e Lunedì. Gian Antonio Stella descrive uno spaccato dei luoghi colpiti e di come la vita si sia fermata dinnanzi alla devastazione.
Ritengo importante dare visibilità a questo articolo, perchè la forza della natura può essere si devastante, ma è compito della società civile prevenire e non dimenticare il passato! Purtroppo ci troviamo dinnanzi ad una tragedia immane, la solidarietà sta facendo tanto, di sicuro più del possibile, ma nessuno ci restituirà quelle centinaia di vite spezzate, quei monumenti storici, quella vita!
